Weird Beard — Pig Smasher
American Red
“American Red Ale. Danky Diddle Doodle, Can you smell it in the air? Can you smell it coming for you? Can you smell what the rock is cookin’? Can you smell it coming in the air tonight? Oh lord? When Weird Beard came to town they obviously had a wonderful time at our brewpub, especially outside when the wind shifted to the west and brought the sweet smell of pig money from our neighbors in Butchertown. Inspiration struck and the result is this American Red Ale we call Pig Smasher. A long abused and maligned style that could possibly make a comeback after we nailed it with this balanced yet hop forward beer. A myriad of caramel malts make up the grain bill and lends notes of toasted toast and the unmistakable flavor of roundness and redness. The hops are as American as they get with notes of freedom and subtle overtones of liberty. The Brits didn’t know what that smell from the Pig Smasher was but they now associate it with America.” (From US version.)
