Northern Monk — Wasted
A 'zero waste' Pear Farmhouse Ale
Perhaps the worlds first no waste beer, everything from the malt to the ingredients were chosen to minimalize the strain on the planet. 50kg of brioche and croissants were used as well as 150kg of “ugly” pears destined to never hit supermarket shelves.
The used grain went to a local farmer for feed for his cattle, the spent hops went to his pigs and the resultant farmhouse style ale was packaged using 100% recyclable containers.
Brewed in collaboration with The Real Junk Food Project – a network of cafés creating meals from food otherwise destined to waste.
